We recognize that internet users are concerned about the information they 
may divulge when interacting online and how that information is stored and 
processed. Furthermore, users are concerned about what information is
 collected about them passively when visiting websites.
 This Privacy Statement outlines Manuscript Manager’s approach to privacy
 and obligations under EU general data protection regulation 2016/679
(GDPR).

Protection of your personal data

We take all practical and applicable security measures to protect personal
information from accidental loss and from unauthorized access. We use 
industry standard norms to ensure as best we can that data integrity and 
security is maintained.

Data collection

Personal and non-personal data collected in Manuscript Manager is not used
 by us for any reason commercial or otherwise. Data collected is controlled
 and used by our customers who are obligated to comply with all the relevant
 regulations including the EU general data protection regulation 2016/679
(GDPR).

Manuscript Manager uses session cookies to store operational data during
 navigation of our website to enhance the user experience. Session cookies 
are typically used to store passwords and IDs related to the user. Upon 
leaving the website, these cookies are destroyed. Data collected in session 
cookies are not used for any purpose other than navigation of the website 
and are not used or available to our customers.

Non-personal usage data from our commercial website is stored for analytical purposes for up to 50 months.

Checking and amending your personal data

Personal data is held by the various journals, publishers, and foundations 
within Manuscript Manager. If you are unsure if any personal data about you exist, you can attempt to sign in to the relevant site by using your email – 
and password retrieval from the sign in page – for the relevant organization.
 Alternatively, you can contact the organization directly who can check for
 you. If you suspect you have an account containing personal data in 
Manuscript Manager but cannot retrieve a password, you are welcome to
 contact us and we can help you on behalf of our customers.

Any personal information can be found in the ‘profile’ section of the program 
once you have signed in. This information can be amended and updated by 
you at any time.

Changes to this privacy statement

Our Privacy Policy may be revised by us periodically and we will post future 
changes here and notify our customers directly of any changes. Last updated
 May 2018.
